Birdwatching Sian Ka´an Muyil
Close to Tulum, Muyil is a great place to enjoy a great diversity of birds while learning about the current Maya culture and the ancient Maya civilization as we walk in a Mayan village and visit the archaeological site of Muyil in the northern portion of the Sian Ka´an Biosphere reserve.
Explore a variety of habitats with different types of vegetation: secondary vegetation, plantations, primary semi-deciduous jungle in the archaeological site of Muyil, and some fresh water wetlands as we walk through flooded jungle on a boardwalk until reaching a fresh water lagoon.
On this tour it is possible to identify from 40 to 80 species of birds (depending on the time of the year).
There is also the possibility to add to this tour a boat trip across two lagoons to enjoy a lazy river floating experience. We float sitting on life vests in a truly unique setting, listening to the sounds of nature, among mangroves, orchids & bromeliads. An experience immersed in nature like nothing you have experienced before.

BIRDS WE HOPE TO SEE:
It is possible to identify from 40 to 80 species of birds (depending on the time of the year): Ferruginous Pygmy Owl, different species of hummingbirds, Trogons, Keel billed Toucan, Turquoise browed Motmot, several species of woodpeckers, and wood- creepers, Jays, Tanagers, Orioles and many more.
