A wonderful introduction to the birds of the Yucatán Peninsula, TOH Nature Reserve is one of the Riviera Maya's most rewarding birding destinations. Located just a short drive from Cancún, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, and the surrounding resort areas, it offers excellent birdwatching without the need for long journeys.

Our morning begins in the peaceful village of Central Vallarta, where gardens, forest edge, and secondary vegetation provide excellent opportunities to observe many of the peninsula's bird species. This first stop not only offers productive birding, but also a glimpse into everyday life in a quiet and peaceful village.

We then continue to the privately protected TOH Nature Reserve, where a network of well-maintained trails winds through tropical forest in search of many of the region's characteristic birds. More than 170 bird species have been recorded within the reserve, and depending on the season it is possible to observe between 50 and 70 species during a single morning excursion.
